Flame Out Landing
Hi, I got the assignment to do some presentation of the force landing and there is something that I could find anywhere in the T.O. Could anybody help me on this? I would like to know how much altitude lost if I do one complete turn with bank 30, 45, and 60 without an enging running?

Re: Flame Out Landing

Can't really help you with those specific numbers and I don't exactly see why they are relevant. What is relevant is knowing the optimum numbers.

Optimum bank angle is 50 degrees (LG UP) and 55 (LG Down) for the least altitude loss.

Altitude loss for a 360 degrees descending turn with LG down uncreases up to 500 feet for each 5 degrees above/below the optimum bank angle.

Altitudes:

  • High Key 7-10000 feet AGL Recommended is 7000 feet AGL plus 500 feet per 1000 pounds of fuel/store weights over A 3000 B 2000 pounds.
  • Low Key 3-5000 feet AGL Recommended is 3000 feet AGL plus 250 feet per 1000 pounds of fuel/store weights over A 3000 B 2000 pounds.
  • Base Key 2000 feet AGL minimum

Hope that helps.
